Singapore Airlines name change policy offers pretty simple and easy-to-process name correction procedures that ensure passengers a hassle-free trip.

Singapore Airlines Name Change Process

The Airlines emphasize the necessity of matching passengers’ names reflected on their passport or any government-issued photo ID. The name and title on the ticket must be the same as the name and title on the passenger’s passport. It is not possible to change your name completely. Only typo correction will be accepted for name changes. 

Let’s understand the process where there is an incorrect spelling of the passenger’s name – 

A new PNR would be created – To correct the typo error or the characters on the first name, middle name, or last name, a new PNR would be created if there is more than one passenger. An identical flight itinerary would be picked alongside the correct name of the passengers. The correct name must match the name that appears on the government-issued photo ID., as per Singapore Airlines name change policy.

The existing PNR will be kept intact – if the same class of service is not available, passengers need to book the lowest class available in the same cabin.

Both PNR would be emailed to Singapore Airlines – Both PNR clearly indicates the correct PNR and the incorrect PNR. The seats will be transferred from the old PNR to the new PNR by the Airlines’ Reservations Team.

The existing PNR would be cancelled – Any requests such as seats, meals, SSR requirements, etc. must be resubmitted in the new PNR once the seats have been transferred. Please make sure that the original PNR with the misspelt name is cancelled after that.

Non-Changeable Fares – To issue a new ticket at the original fare, a Waiver Code will be provided. A 250 USD name correction fee, reflected as a service charge on the new ticket, as well as all other applicable taxes, must be collected.

Changeable Fares – If the same class of service is available, the airline re-books and issues a new ticket at the current contract, and then submit the old ticket for a refund. Passengers would be asked to pay the applicable Singapore Airlines cancellation fee. The cancellation fee would be assessed as specified in the stated fare rules for published fares.

Type of Name Correction/Changes on Singapore Airlines Reservation

To change the name on, passengers need to call the airlines’ Customer Service, provide the requirement document, and are subject to a name change fee. In most cases, if a ticket needs to be changed due to a typo or because your legal name has changed (for example, after getting married), you should be able to do it.

As per Singapore Airlines name change policy, a complete or partial name change is referred to as a name change (such as to a new person or a relative with the same surname). The airlines do not support name change requests, under any circumstances. In such cases, passengers need to request flight cancellation. Apply for a refund. Rebook the same flight itinerary with the correct passenger’s name.  

Married Name Change Request

In case, passengers want to change the married name to the maiden name, the supporting documents would be sent to the Singapore Airlines change passenger name team for consideration. A fee of 250 USD would be charged as Singapore Airlines name change fee alongside the applicable fare difference. 

Singapore Airlines Misspelled Name

The airline has a strong regulation in place, requiring that all passengers’ names match those on their passports or government-issued photo ID.  The name and title on the ticket must be the same as the name and title on the passenger’s passport. The PNR’s Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD/DOCS) contains the updated first name, middle name, and last name of the passenger.

In case, your government ID does not include a surname, you can use your first name as your surname during your reservation, as per Singapore Airlines name change policy. For example, if passengers have the first name ‘ABC’ can fill in their last name as ‘ABC’ during the booking. The last name cannot be omitted after the ticket is issued, In such cases, passengers need to request the flight cancellation. Apply for a refund. Singapore Airlines Change Name on Legal Grounds

When you legally change your name due to marriage, divorce, or other circumstances. To modify your ticket due to a legal name change, call the customer service number; a name change fee of 250 USD would be assessed. Once the name change request is approved, passenger’s tickets would be sent for reissuance in the existing class of service, subject to availability. Fare difference may apply if there is any.

For any name correction request within 24 hours no fee would be applicable. Outside 24 hours, a fee would be applied and the fare difference, if there is any. There are ultimately two parts to the change fee – 

Nominal Name Correction Fee
