• Guests in the US and Canada can only claim a 100% refund under the 24 hours cancellation rule provided that the reservation must be made at least 7 days or more in advance of the flight departure. 
• The 24 hour grace period must begin the moment you complete the flight purchase and you have been issued a 13-digit e-ticket number. 
• Flights booked with reward miles are exempted from cancellation within 24 hours. 
• The cancellation within 24 hours would not be applicable to the group fares. 
• Within 24 hours passengers can request Etihad flight change without paying any additional fee.

Etihad Airways Ticket Cancellation Procedure

Etihad flight cancellation can be requested through an online booking portal or at the ticket counter. Here are the following services that can be requested both online as well as offline : 

• Cancelled flight refunds.
• Rebooking/rescheduling multiple destinations and stopover booking.
• Making cancellations to the ancillary services such as seating, meal requests, Chauffeur services, and other essentials. 

Method 1: Etihad Online Ticket Cancellation

You can cancel the flight online via the Manage Booking section. You need to have the six-digit confirmation code alongside the last name of the passenger. Pay the required fee online. Then, claim a refund either in the form of original payment or travel credit, as per the fare rules. Follow these steps to understand how online cancellation works –

• Log on to etihad.com and click on the ‘Manage booking’ link.
• You can retrieve the booking in one of the three ways :
  • six-digit booking reference number 
  • 13-digit e-ticket number 
  • Enter your email address, along with the date of birth and the name of the passenger. 
• Under the flight’s section, choose to select your flight itinerary that you would like to cancel. You can choose your entire booking, cancel specific passengers or flight segments. 
• Review the Etihad cancellation policy associated with your airfare. 
• Before cancellation, you will get the refund value as well as cancellation charges displayed on the screen.  
• Hit the ‘confirm cancel request’ link. 
• You will receive the email confirmation of your flight cancellation at the email address provided at the time of booking. 

Method 2: Cancel Tickets over the Phone

Method 3: Cancel Flights at The Ticket Office

• The refund must be subject to the fare rules of the ticket purchased. 
• There will be a waiver of the ticket cancellation fee in the unfortunate event of the death of a traveler, co-traveler, or death of an immediate family member. 
• All the global service fees and ancillaries associated with flight booking are non-refundable. 
• The cancellation fee would be waived in case of an unfortunate event of the death of the passenger or an immediate family member. Passengers can claim a 100% Etihad flight cancellation refund.

Denial of Boarding or Cancellation

All passengers are entitled to Etihad airways flight cancellation compensation if passengers have been denied boarding involuntarily due to:

• Overbooking of flights as there are more confirmed reservations than the number of seats available.
• If the flight is delayed for four hours or more beyond its scheduled time of departure.
• Any passengers who have been informed of a cancelled flight event within 2 weeks before the departure. 

An exception to the cancelled flight compensation applies if:

• You’re informed of cancellation no less than two weeks before the scheduled flight departure. 
• The flight cancellation occurred between two weeks and seven days prior. In addition, if you’re offered an alternate flight that reaches your final destination within four hours after the original time of arrival.
• If a flight cancels less than seven days prior to the scheduled departure and is offered an alternate flight that reaches your final destination within two hours after the original time of arrival.

Etihad Airways Flight Cancellation Compensation In case of Delayed Flights

If you’re denied boarding involuntarily or in case of any cancelled flight event, you are entitled to receive the following amount other than a refund from the airline:

• $485 USD for all flights within 3500 Km from point A to point B.
• $725 USD for all flights of more than 3500 Km from point A to point B.

The above-mentioned flight cancellation compensation would be reduced to 50% if an alternate flight is offered and the arrival time of any rerouted flights does not exceed the original arrival time:

• 3 hours, for all flights within 3500 Km from point A to point B.
• 4 hours  for all flights of more than 3500 Km from point A to point B.

In addition, you’re entitled to get the following reimbursement in case of cancellation:

• Reimbursement of the unused portion of the ticket.
• Alternate flight arrangements to the passengers’ final destination or stopover.
• Alternate flight to a later date at the passenger’s convenience.

If you’re denied boarding or a flight is cancelled or delayed by more than 4 hours, you are also be entitled to get :

• Meals and refreshment vouchers.
• Two telephone calls or emails.
• Hotel accommodation if the alternate flight arrangement requires an overnight stay.
• Airport transfers.

Etihad Airlines Refund Policy

As per Etihad refund policy, the refund would be applicable to the unused portion of the ticket. Add to that, there are other important considerations covered under the refund policy as mentioned below.

• The refunds are subject to the fare rule associated with the flight booking you’ve purchased.
• The refund policy varies based on the selected fare rules. 
• To apply for an Etihad ticket cancellation refund on a previously exchanged ticket, a refund policy of the original fare would apply. 
• The refund would be credited in the original form of payment.
• The refund generated from the credit cards would be processed in 7 business days. Bookings made with other forms of payment would be credited in 15-20 business days. 
• A refund can only be applied to the non-restricted fare rules.
• The amount of your refund is determined by a number of factors. For example, based on the fare rules of the ticket and travel routes, partially flown bookings generate refunds on a prorated basis. 

Etihad Covid Refund Policy

Passengers are eligible to claim refund under the following situation – 

• When a flight is cancelled, a full refund is permitted on the unused portion of the travel. No Etihad cancellation fee would be applied. 
• Capacity reductions enforced by the government resulted in individual passenger cancellations.

• Passenger has tested positive 1-7 days before the flight from an approved government facility.
